Wahnsinn (The Sum of Hatred)

Another Walt Disney contribution to the war effort.  Funny thing about this is documentary footage, shot for ‘World At War (1974)’, in which a man expresses some sense of relief in joining the Wehrmacht (Army) and getting out of the incessant Nazi propaganda bombardment on the German public.  Irony of Disney propaganda films (there’s another one somewhere else in this web log) is they are predominantly true to reality of the Nazi state.  So, not really propaganda films, but cartoon news reels!

Hitler delivers speech at a Hitler Youth Rally.  Introduction made by Baldur von Schirach, head of Hitler Youth.Baldur von Schirach

Other notables on screen: Josef Goebbels, Propaganda Minister.Josef Goebbels Just before victory in Europe, Herr Dr. Goebbels killed his six children, then he and his wife committed suicide. I guess, in the end, he knew what he did was wrong.

Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s Deputy.Rudolph Hess Hess died in 1987 at the age of 93. His death was ruled as suicide by self-asphyxiation. He strangled himself with an extension cord.

A cut from a Nazi production which was shown in every theatre house throughout occupied Europe.  My thoughts on these last three videos are summed up very well by the narrator in the last.  We owe it to the millions who perished to never forget.

Heinrich Himmler, Head of the SS.Heinrich Himmler Herr Himmler killed himself shortly after being captured at the end of the war. He swallowed a cyanide pill.

Before you press play on this last one.  There are some pretty disturbing (graphic) shots…this is not for the feint of heart.  The following is the sum of what hatred can do. No conscience is free.
